MORE ON AFRICA: The New York Times' Jean-Claude Shanda Tonme expresses a very important point about the recent doomed Live 8 and G8 initiatives- they are bound to fail if Africa doesn't get its act together. We should be promoting good governance, but not a free ticket. More on this.

Bravo.
One can "gussy up" a cesspool, but it remains a cesspool none-the-less. One is so tired of hearing no condemnation for those in Africa making it a cesspool of human misery. Somehow, in some way, Africa taking an economic dump in its own nest is always the fault of the Western world, and not the murderous thugs who create the mess in the first place.
Then again, one could make the same point about terrorism.
